Who says using coupons are tacky? Hell no!
Discount coupons are hot here – well, in Jakarta at least.
This has become a pretty long awaited turn around in my opinion since I have loved collecting – and using! – discount coupons. I even listed them as one of the things that I missed from the States.
And I just experienced my first ever discount coupons in Jakarta through a brand spanking new website called Di Kota Kita (loosely translated means “In Our City”). They are offering some great deals for discounted prices such as the one I just bought, discount coupons for Spa Treatments.
Without further ado, here is my review of Di Kota Kita:
Pros:
- Ease of use: The website is pretty self explanatory, easy to navigate although I would highly suggest once they have more deals, it might be useful to categorize the offers such as “Beauty”, “F&B” and the likes.
- Deals Delivered to your inbox: They offer email updates for new deals or through text message – which I omitted since I’d like to keep my cell phone’s inbox at minimum.
- Payments Options: They take bank transfer, through ATM, cash payment at their office (who btw, located in the heart of Jakarta’s business district). They will give you a Virtual Card that you can top up through the payments method above and just shop away.
- Customer Service: I am a skeptic when it comes to Customer Service in Indonesia mainly because it’s been proven times and times again that the people behind Customer Service still have to digest what it truly means. Now, my personal experience with Di Kota Kita has been nothing short of excellence. I bought the spa voucher just minutes after it was first went live on their website and as it turned out spa’s branch that I picked – considering it was the closest to my office and home – was closed down. In other words, I will have to go to a different branch. Disappointed of course! But someone, a real person quickly gets a hold of me on the phone to clarify and to apologize for this sudden change.
Cons:
- Delivery of the Printable Coupon: I hope in the future, a customer doesn’t have to wait close to 24 hours to receive their coupons.
- Last minute changes: As a paying customer – I was a little upset that the Spa Venue that I chose was cancelled due to renovations. This is of course one of the “force majeure” event because the Spa itself only informed Di Kota Kita on the last minute AFTER the promo went live – and eventually after I bought them. My suggestion would be for them to try and minimize possibility of letting their customers down by securing the deal with their vendors before the promo went live.
- 24 Call Center: Okay, maybe once the company gets bigger they could provide a 1-800 or a mobile number that their customers can contact outside of the office hours for assistance.
Honestly, I’m pretty excited about this website and can’t wait to see more promotions from them.
Of course I will be posting a follow up review to let you know how using the coupons work and how my Spa experience went, so do stay tuned!

I hope you have a great spa treatment! I’ve used the Groupon site before on restaurants and was pleased, but have yet to try them for spa services.
Thanks, girl! I love Groupon – among scouring the Sunday papers lol.
