While in searching for the right pediatrician for our little man, this clinic, The Jakarta Women & Children Clinic (JWCC) was referred by a dear friend-mom-entrepreneur, Esti Feuermann. Her daughter has been seeing this one doctor since she was born.
First visit there, I was quickly impressed when I read their brochure of how they are following American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines and standards as well as Indonesians Health Minister’s one obviously. This clinic have a partnership to Kinder Clinic in Singapore. Also, the profiles of their pediatricians are impressive.
Located on the second floor, the pediatric clinic is divided into 6 areas.
- The waiting/Reception area: With very friendly and helpful nurses they are quick and very accommodating.
- A second waiting area: With a little make shift book store, they also have some clothes there for sale.
- Kids play area: There’s more chairs for you to sit and wait while your little ones play. Magazines and flyers are bountiful for the parents. There’s a small Mothercare shop there too, which is handy should you need extra baby wipes, diapers even new sets of clothes should your little one had a diaper explosion or worst vomited.
- Examinations Rooms: They have several rooms.
- Observations Rooms: Tucked behind one of the examination room there are a couple of rooms with bed where your sick baby can wait until they’re being called in to see the pediatrician.
- Nursing Room: Very handy for nursing moms.
First floor is designated for women’s clinic. I haven’t personally tried it but will probably have to find a gynecologist there soon. Their small pharmacy is also on the first floor.
The pediatrician I chose is Dr. Lineus Hewis. He speaks fluent English and very good. We had a rough first starts due to Lil’ A’s trauma for doctors but this doesn’t stop Dr. Hewis from being very professional and check him thoroughly each visits we had so far. He’s more than willing to address the many questions I always armed with, from developmental milestones down to discussing if these kids multivitamins are necessary or not. Most importantly he is definitely not one of those doctors that thinks antibiotic is the answer to every illness!
The clinic have an after office cell phone number that you can contact incase of emergency and this is great, although I haven’t personally use it gives me a peace of mind saving this number in my phone.
Walk-ins for emergency cases (such as stomach flu, fever, etc) are welcome and the nurses are quick in assigning us to one of the observation room so Lil’ A can lay down and not spreading the bug. If you have a question about medications or illness they really are just a phone call away. You can talk with Dr. Hewis’ nurse who will consult him and call you right back. I had done this several times and am very impressed with how quickly the nurse called me back.
The price for their service is above average compare to the other local pediatricians but a lot cheaper than one of the more well known ‘expat clinic’. Consultation fee is about: Rp. 320,000,- ($35 USD). Personally, Dr. Hewis has been the best pediatrician for us here, hands down and I wouldn’t hesitate in giving you recommendations.

dokternya bule yg bs bahasa atau org indonesia? still looking for a good pediatrician for almost 6 months & went to 4 pedi but not even 1 meets my ideal kind of pedi.. disini dokter maunya buru2, ngechecknya juga asal aja..
Attachment parenting is beautiful Fin! Coba lo mampir ke blog temen gw One Starry Night, badge-nya ada di samping tuh yg scrolling dia udah pro banget soal urusan attachment parenting.
Tiara juga pake Dr. Lineus hehehe.
Dokter Lineus ini kita contact-nya in case of emergency lewat kliniknya Fin, kalo jam kerja bisa langsung ngomong sama susternya. Trus mereka ada emergency line – nomer handphone – yang bisa lo telp kalo emergency-nya di luar jam kerja. Highly recommended!

How about the Gynac department there? Any Idea ?
I am actually interested to know if they deal in infertility cases.
I have no personal experience with their gynecology department but that place too have plenty of patients and from their brochure I remember that they do deal with infertility. You could call them for further inquiries. Good luck
I have used their emergency hotline, and it’s great. Not only that they calmly provided answers to all my concerns about my daughter’s ear infection, they also didn’t mind that called twice that Sunday.
JWCC’s service is definitely the best! Our pediatricians there are Dr. Lineus (primary) and Dr Isabella (backup)
Hi Vita, thanks for stopping by and sharing your own great experience with JWCC! How is Dr. Isabella? We haven’t had any ‘official’ backup pediatrician just yet because I feel comfortable enough with the other doctors and so far we’ve only ‘tried’ one other pedi (can’t remember his name).
Dear Dr.,
I am Italian and 20+2 weeks pregnant and would like to come to manila to visit a friend who suggested your clinic in case I have some problems. I would like to know if it is safe to come since I am a Toxo and cytomegalovirus receptive.
Best Regards,
Katia
Hi Maureen, salam kenal yah
i know your blog from mommiesdaily.com.
Setuju banget, dokter anakku juga sama Dr. Lineus. Kalo ngecek teliti deh dokter Lineus ini. Aku tau Dr. Lineus juga rekomen dari temenku.
Hi Maureen,
Great blog indeed. I have seen Dr Lineus a few times, and up until yesterday i thought he was indeed better than any other pediatricians. i brought my son to see him last thursday due to ulcers in his mouth and a little bit of runny nose. I agree that he is quite thorough compared to other doctors. He did tell me the my baby ulcers were indeed pretty bad, but he ended up giving him only the medicine for his runny nose. I had my nanny to get the medicine. It’s not after i reached home that i realized he didnt give me anything for his ulcers. By Saturday, his ulcers got a lot worse. I called JWCC to ask for Dr Lineus personal numbers since saturday is his off-day which i was not given. On Monday, i called again, was informed he’s fully booked but that i could still come. So i did come. My son has a fever of 38.1 because of his ulcers. He keeps crying too because of the pain. As a dad, seeing your son in pain, obviously you would like to be prioritized. I told one of the nurses that my son’s case is emergency. She went to see Dr Lineus to explain my situation, came up and told me i still had to wait for my turn.
I had been waiting for like an hour. My son started crying again. I asked the nurse how many kids before my son, was told there were still 8. I absolutely couldn’t stand it so i told the nurse i would just walk-in and see Dr Lienus. He was checking other kid so i waited until he is finished. When he is finished i just walked in. Told Dr Lineus that the ulcers got so much worse, that my son has refused to eat for the past 5 days. I asked him if he could just check on my son first. He told me that i needed to wait it’s not my turn. I was so pissed with him that i asked him why didnt he prescribe the ulcers medicine in the first place. Obviously that was his mistake, not mine. He then just prescribe me a liquid to ease the ulcers pain without bothering to check on my son.
If he just owns up to his mistake and spend a few minutes to check on my son. That really is all i am asking for. 2 minutes for him to check on how bad the ulcers have become which he plainly refuse. As a parent, how would you feel ?
Anyways, i swear i would never ever see this doctor ever again. Just wanna share with you all,
Hank
Hi, everyone!
In the beggining my experience was really bad since I was a mom without any experience I was expecting and gently doctor who’s could told me a lot of things, the 1st consultation was for vaccinations and the Dr. Lineus even knew the name of my daugther. And justbto let you know he was the pediactric dr at the clinic when I delivery my baby.
Since a wile I continue with the consultation until I just have to took my husband with my because my husband could believe how unpolite was this Dr. With me.
As Hank mention I also have to come back for a medicine that this Dr. Didn’t suscribe at the consultation before. And when I when there my baby was with feber and an allergy in all her body, she was all red and also 38. They make me wait atleat one hour or more.
In many countries normally you have the private telephone number of the doctor in case an emergency. The emergency line that they have is just a waste of time. All the nurse say give paracethamol or give a massage to the baby. Ridiculuos!!!
When I ask him about how can I contact him he look at me as I was out my mind. How I could believe I can call him for asking him a DUMB question. Yesss a DUMB question ….words of the doctor.
All my forengin friend check up the doctor and we compare him with our local friends and the difference of treatment was noticed.
Any way people say he has a great reputation in Jakarta BUT sometimes this doesn’t work for everyone!
I recommend you check you lol with someone in singapore (if possible) or someone in other clinic just compare. Just when the situation need it!

I used Dr Lineus when the first time we moved back to Jakarta. His name pooped up frequently when i shared some mommy-talk at my daughter’s play school. So i thought, hey this doctor is famous and probably i should give him a try!
So when my lil ones got a nasty cold one day, i immediately called JWCC and made appointment. Perfect timing to try this “famous” doctor. First meeting wasn’t quite as what i expected… the doctor seemed knowledgeable but i can see right away the “typical” attitude of the Indo doctor in him. A little arrogant too if I may say. But i thought it’s his personality and as long as he can make my lil ones all better, then i will sure be back.
The 2nd visit was another couple months later, this time without my husband. Still not impressed, he’s indeed arrogant and worked like a ‘robot’. My lil ones was crying when i stepped into his room, but he seemed inpatient and asked the nurse to just take my daughter from me and lay her down for check up. Of course my daughter cried even more louder! Gee… can’t he wait for a couple minute while i tried to calm her down??? For him, time is clearly money!
However, even i wasn’t impressed by his attitude, i still made another few visit until one day i told myself, that’s it! I failed to find any good reason why I should put up with this doctor. Funnily enough, when i shared with some other mommies in the play school, they said the same thing! Most of them decided to leave this doctor because of the same reason and some others claimed he’s not that good after all! Ha…. i am obviously not alone
I finally found a much better doctor for my lil ones at SOS Cipete, Dr Johny Nurman (hope i spell his name correctly). He is incredible patient, and always check my lil ones thoroughly in every visit. He welcome all the questions i (always) have and answered them in details. And even more amazingly, only with him, my daughter (2 yo) doesn’t freak out! No cry, no scream, no trauma. I was so amazed at the 1st visit as he can calm my girl who let him check on her without fight. Unlike most of the doctors here, he doesn’t easily prescribe antibiotics for common virus like cold or cough.
Well.. yes I have to pay more at SOS, but a little extra cash is nothing compare to satisfaction and comfortable feeling that i got.
I had a pretty okay experience with Dr Lineus when I went there a few days back. He checked my kids and was okay around them, he didn’t seem to mind the noise they made that much. I could see that he seems to want to rush things when people start to crowd in but all-in-all his advice was pretty okay and he asked the right questions in my mind… My major problem with that experience was the nurse, it could be the head nurse but i’m not that sure… I was trying to explain to her what happened to my son during the preliminary check-up with the nurse to explain symptoms, etc., and she kept on interrupting me and insisting that I only answer the questions she was answering. During the check-up, she was very irritated by my older son (he likes to question new people a lot) and was shushing him REALLY LOUD. When my son asked yet another question, she literally pulled him back by wrapping her arms around him and basically telling him to stop talking. AT this point I had to be rude right back and tell her to let go of my child. Imagine manhandling a 5-year old boy by a “health care provider”. I’m not sure if i’ll be going back, other son isn’t quite better yet… so we’ll see…
