10 Things I Like Plus Some Awards

onelovelyblog

Juggling a new tittle as a working mom, dealing with a toddler who’s slowly getting used to our new routine, blogsphere seems like a far away world lately.

I miss it terribly!

And I’m missing the daily interactions with my bloggy friends – old and new.

Lish from A Beautiful Mess gave me this award awhile ago. Thank you, girl! She’s an awesome blogger/photographer if you haven’t heard of her, please do pay her blog a visit.

Sweet Amanda from Home Age also gave me a Versatile Blogger award. She’s such a sweetheart! Thanks, Amanda!

Over at After Bedtime Blog, Vanita gave me an Awesome Blogger award. What a sweet surprise. Thanks again, Mama!

Now here are the ‘rules’ to disclose 10 things me likey in randomly order:

  1. I love err like and miss Coffee Mate French Vanilla Creamer. They don’t have them here and I miss them oh.a.lot!
  2. Vanilla scents. From body sprays, scented candles to ice-creams.
  3. The calmness of early morning, sipping my first cup of coffee and just savoring the only me-time I have during my now busy day. Now have you figured why I’d rather wake up at 4 am everyday?
  4. The jolt of excitements when I’m flying in an airplane – big or small – what can I say, I’m just a sucker for traveling.
  5. The smell and softness of freshly washed bed sheets.
  6. Lil’ A’s “What’s so funny, Mommy?” every time he hears us adults laughing out loud.
  7. How the boy tried so hard to glare his eyes out – poor thing just can’t do it and it only makes him look even more adorably cute.
  8. My bloggy friends…you are all meant so much to me and me love you long time!
  9. Checking out the pictures that I took – albeit the painfully time consuming post-processing – I still squeals when I got some unexpectedly good shots.
  10. My hair spa! Gotta love my two hours of pure relaxations for a mere 5 bucks! Speaking of…I need one badly.

Weekly Round Up

lifeisgoodawardfrompampers

So, after a small objection from Lil’ A about my blackberry, I took the weekend off not only from the phone (well almost! I still had to communicate with DH!) but also from my laptop and you know what it feels great! But I do miss reading the blogs I love – so will try to do some catch up soon.

  • Milestone wise: The boy now speaks longer sentences, some words just spurted out of nowhere! Like last Saturday while playing with his small uncles and aunts (yes – technically he is their little nephew!) he blurted out “No! That’s not how you do that…here, let me show you!” with a very bossy tones it’s almost make me fell on the floor laughing. It’s amazing how his vocabulary grows and I really enjoy having a conversation with him. Last night while playing I asked him “Lil’ A, do you know Mommy’s name?” Without even thinking he replied “Yes, Mommy A…” hahaha that was too cute! When asked who his Daddy’s name is the same answer came out “Daddy A…” Later, I asked him “Which one do you like better? Mommy Maureen or Mommy Oyen?” Mommy Oyen rules my a mile! :D
  • About the circus: Well it’s actually a trapeze show! In a mall…yes, only in Jakarta you can find a trapeze inside a mall. Lil’ A was super excited watching these Russians swinging and jumping in the air. The show was free for that mall’s visitors so they weren’t long only around 15-20 minutes. It was so hard trying to take their pictures while they are on the air and our spot wasn’t exactly the best to take pictures.

  • Daddy-less Father’s Day: Yes, another one. Last year DH was in Dublin and this year he have to fly to Brussels, Belgium on Father’s Day. Thanks God this would just be a short visit and he will be back this coming Thursday. Lil’ A picked the card himself and I just love how he went through the cards and said “For Daddy…no…this one? Yes!
  • Preschool shopping: Boy, this one is so hard! I never thought there’s a preschool in Jakarta with a price tag of $5,000 a month! Gasps! We’re still shopping for the right school for Lil’ A and it hasn’t been an easy task. But so far we have narrowed down to two schools with affordable price tags and seems like a great place.
  • Award: Sweet Katie from Sluiter Nation gave me an award and I was totally stoked because we had just ‘met’ through twitter and blogs. She’s such an awesome Mama, thanks girl!

As always, there are rules for the given Award, so here’s my answers to the questions:

  • When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
  • A lot! When I was still in the kiddy dancing group of course I wanted to be a dancer. Then I wanted to be a   flight   attendant so I can travel the world for free & get paid! In Junior High after finding my love for writing, I wanted to be a writer and almost took English as my major after high school.

  • What is your most prized material possession?
  • This has to be my camera, an old Rebel XTi that I got 2 years ago and my two lenses. I love my camera and I’m trying to save for more lenses. I drool over lenses and anything camera related more than I drool over purses or shoes! Problem is I’m so forgetful, already I need to replace two lens caps! Sigh!

  • Do you have an iGadgetOfSomeDescription?
  • No, not even an iPod LOL my brothers who are both Apple freaks has been bugging me to make the cross and get a MacBook.

  • What is your poison–hot shower or warm bath?
  • An uninterrupted one would be heaven! For now, a quick hot shower will have to do if the Little Monkey didn’t want to share it with me.

  • What is the best decision you ever made?
  • Tough one! If I have to pick one…it would be to stand my ground and told my first obygyn NO, I will not go to Birmingham and have an emergency c-section when my pregnancy was only 30 weeks & I was first diagnosed with severe preeclampsia. After we switched doctor, I was able to baked him a little longer until he’s 35 weeks -  pretty safe week to be born.

Now let me pass this Award to these fantastic bloggers:

Wish you all  wonderful week ahead!

Something Beautiful

beautiful-blogger

Sian over at Pumpkin and Piglet gave me this beautiful blog award and I am stoked! Thank you, Sian!

Although my blog still have some kinks to straighten out after moving from one hosting company to another with the help of brilliant Sharon, I am so surprised that Sian gave me such an award!

The rules are I suppose to share 7 facts about myself then pass the award to 15 others blogger so here goes my 7 list:

  • I love roller coaster – and now I know where my son got his thrill seeking taste from. In High School after final graduation exams, my whole class went to an amusement park here in Jakarta and I won a bet of who can ride the roller coaster the most – I was the only girl who joined in the bet!
  • We once lost everything and I mean everything in a fire. It was in 1992 – at the crack of dawn I was woken up by my brother screaming “Hurry…hurry” bleary eyed I opened my bedroom door just thinking “Oh darn it I’m late for school!” since it was Saturday (yes we Indonesians goes to school 6 days a week!) and my mom had that day off from work she must be overslept! My dad yelled at me to go grab my mom’s jewelry box from their room – both front & back door was open and it was still dark outside. It was blurry for the most part as it happened so fast. Our house got burnt down to the ground in mere minutes. That was the first time I ever seen my dad cried when he hold me as I watched in horror how the fire swallowed everything from a neighbor’s house, all our precious memories gone in an instant. Luckily it was a company’s house so they were quick to arranged a new house for us, donations were pouring in, we were dressed in used clothes that people donated but it was the fact that we lost all our pictures and little keepsakes from the past that made me so sad. We were blessed tho’ that none of us get hurts! Miraculous thing also happened – my old small bible was on top of a bedside table and later a fireman found it sitting on the floor right where the table used to be. It was completely untouched by the fire while my whole room got burnt to the ground! My grandpa sent out that bible to a museum somewhere.
  • I have a cousin who died in a tragic horrible motorbike accident years ago that’s why I can’t stand watching kids who race on their motorbikes thinking they have 9 lives!
  • I once dated a tenant when I was still working at my old job – at an apartment, of course there are no written rules about it but you know what I mean! The sneaking around were the best parts really – the guy wasn’t that great LOL!
  • From Junior High to High School I used to have a pen-pal from Kamloops B.C – Canada. We lost contacts but I still sometimes wonder how she’s doing so Nicole Mercier, if you read this…I would love to get back in touch with you!
  • I have too many nicknames! My parents calls me Moyen apparently I ‘baptized’ myself with this name when I was little because pronouncing Maureen was too hard! To close friends and DH I’m simply Oyen. While to some of my gaming (read: Yoville) friends I’m either Tatter or Mo! Feel free to call me with one of these names LOL
  • Loves the stinky fruit of Durian!

Okay, next I’ll pass this award to these amazing bloggers bellow:

Sharon at Good, True and Beautiful

Gigi at Kludgy Mom

Crystal at Wanna Be Balanced Mom

Kate at Mommy Monologues

Dhi at Hopscotch Baby

Heather at Gerber Days

Melissa at Miel et Lait

Alyse at Sushiecookie

2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic!
4. Contact the bloggers you’ve picked and let them know about the award.

1. What a sweet surprise to woke up to on Mother’s Day! Gigi from Kludgymom, my new bloggy buddy left a message about the award and I was stoked! My first ever! Thanks, girl!

2. Seven Unknown Facts About Me:

  • I can wiggle my ears, hard to explain, but it looks like my ears are moving by itself but I think I just had overactive muscles around them. My son thinks it’s the funniest thing ever!
  • Was a hardcore tomboy when I was little, hated dresses, climb trees, fight with boys, race with my yellow bicycle, had war wounds all over my legs.
  • Behind my once tomboyish side, I’ve always been a cry baby! Sad movies makes me cry but it was worst when I was pregnant, even a baby soap commercial put tears in my eyes!
  • Had a pretty big benign breast tumor (fibroadenomas) removed from my right breast when I was 17.
  • Broke a toe nail in half when I went rafting over 5 years ago and that toe still hurts.
  • Had stopped writing poem in my native language (Indonesian) in High School due to a silly thing. A girl from my class who was appointed to read the poem in a competition between several High School won first place, was praised by everyone but no word for me, the one who wrote it.
  • Never have a date let alone a boyfriend in High School. Shocking? Not when you were almost 200lbs-curly haired-acne prone-girl!

3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic! I’m just gonna go with 6 this time and I think you will love these bloggers too.
