Friday Flip-offs – Second Week of August

It’s that time of the week again where one can benefited from a virtual detox brought to you by Gigi at Kludgy Mom. Never heard of these before? Then I strongly urge you to come check it out.

Okay…here are my flips:

  • To the diabetic that runs in my family and caused my Dad some problems with his health…I just found out two days ago that he’s having problem with his right eye. He went to see the company’s doctor and was told one of the blood vessel needs to be looked into by an eye specialist. You see, my Dad works in a rural mining area in Zambia. This means he will have to go to Johannesburg to get that check out. So diabetic…triple flip offs to you! Also if you could say some prayers for him, we would be so thankful!
  • To that girl…even when I do pray for you every night, that God will forgive your sins and opened up your eyes of the damaged you had caused… but you know what, I’m only human and some days I can’t help but thinking of letting you have a taste of your own medicines and giving you a huge piece of my mind, but NO I’m a firm believer of what goes around comes around. You will reap what you sow…but until then Flippity off to you, biotch! – Forgive me oh Lord!
  • To Facebook who keep changing their settings! What gives?! Thought I had changed everything so my profile is private. Private means I shouldn’t be getting these stupid notice that a stranger-creepy-looking-guy had poked my profile! That is low to poke someone’s profile! Yuck! You’re such a turn-off nowadays Facebook and the only reasons I kept you there is because of the network for my blog. So yeah Flip-off!
  • To my elbow – that’s been bugging me with being swollen and throbbing in pain for the past 3 days, Flip-off!
  • To my lazy behind – flip off! Stop blaming the rain and get off your back do the morning walk again, woman! Flip-off laziness!
  • To my self pity party – snap outta it already! So what, you don’t get that dream job…move on already oh and for the record, Aunt Flo I’m blaming you too for this crappy feelings. Flip off self pity!

Weekly Roundup – Week 2 August + Vote Request

Lucy far right

Last week surely felt like the weeks before…gone by too fast and with so much going on I published this today instead of on Monday like I usually does.

First, Tatter Scoops had gone some face lift over the weekend. What do you think? There are still some things to iron out tho’ so please bear with me.

Awesome things that happened in my neck of the wood from last week:

  • After over 5 years, I got to met one of the coolest and sweetest friend, Lucy from Las Vegas. She’s one of the first friends I met from the old Indonesian Mix Marriage community. The first time we met was in 2005. Here’s how we looked like back then (sure wish I’m still that small!)

And here’s what we looked like last week:

  • Last Tuesday, should be marked on my calendar as one of the milestones in the life of our Lil’ A. We ventured out to the mall without any pull-ups! Although he’s been pull-ups free during the day when we’re home, I was still scared to take him places without one knowing how bad traffic can get here. He did so well…we took 2 trips to the potty while we were at the mall. YAY big boy!
  • I just got a copy of Time Out Jakarta magazine where two of my pictures – of Lil’ A were published on their August 2010 issue. Exciting because it’s the first time ever a magazine printed the photos I took.
  • Speaking of photos, would you please be so kind and vote for my first ever photo contest entry? Just follow the link and it will take you to a Facebook page. You can vote once a day, and it’s pretty easy. Here’s what the screen would look like after you open it:

There’s only 2 days left to vote and I really appreciate your help.
  • Last week I was so envious to DH who got to return to Guangzhou, China – yeah, I know it’s a business trip but it’s enough to make me jealous thinking of all the delicious food he ate there! Very soon he will be on his way for yet another business trip to Serbia and chances are he will be gone for over two weeks.

Hope you guys had a great weekend and will have a wonderful brand new week up ahead.

Something’s Gotta Give

Bare living room

It is with a heavy heart that I’m writing you this…

With more time I’ve been spending doing both the 31DBBB Challenge and building friendships within this blogsphere and barely any social life left, I feel like the time has come to let go of my other addiction.

Well, you can’t claim yourself to be addicted to something when you barely do it right? That’s what has been happening to my Yoville addiction.

Yes, you read that right! I was once a Yoville addict – we had our own Yoville addicts anonymous group.

What the heck is Yoville? Well, it’s an online virtual game on Facebook where you can decorate your own apartment or houses. Who knew I have a knack for them?!

Well, I used to play this game religiously even my Dad had once made a remark on how much I played this game and my husband had quit complaining about the game that sucked my life awhile ago. Lately, I’ve been playing less and less and now I haven’t even log on for a couple of days -which reminds me, hey neighbors I’m so sorry I haven’t send you out those free gifts!

What stopping me from completely deleting this game application is the facts that I had too much stuffs on them. Some worth a few Ks and yes, I paid some of them with real money – not anymore tho since I can’t justify the prices there now that had gotten more and more expensive.

From this silly game, I had found two of my best friends so you see it’s more than just a pixels game for me.

Yoville had kept me company on those long lonely nights when I’m home alone when DH is out of town for work, even on Thanksgiving Day! Kris – one of my BFF – kept me company and we hang out together a lot there in that virtual world.

And who knew it’s so much fun decorating a room from bare like this:

to this one:

Or this one:

to something like this:

It’s a game of creativity for sure but I just can’t spend that much time on it anymore.

So yeah, something’s gotta give!

Hop over to Alicia at A Beautiful Mess to join the fun.

Weekly Round Up

lifeisgoodawardfrompampers

So, after a small objection from Lil’ A about my blackberry, I took the weekend off not only from the phone (well almost! I still had to communicate with DH!) but also from my laptop and you know what it feels great! But I do miss reading the blogs I love – so will try to do some catch up soon.

  • Milestone wise: The boy now speaks longer sentences, some words just spurted out of nowhere! Like last Saturday while playing with his small uncles and aunts (yes – technically he is their little nephew!) he blurted out “No! That’s not how you do that…here, let me show you!” with a very bossy tones it’s almost make me fell on the floor laughing. It’s amazing how his vocabulary grows and I really enjoy having a conversation with him. Last night while playing I asked him “Lil’ A, do you know Mommy’s name?” Without even thinking he replied “Yes, Mommy A…” hahaha that was too cute! When asked who his Daddy’s name is the same answer came out “Daddy A…” Later, I asked him “Which one do you like better? Mommy Maureen or Mommy Oyen?” Mommy Oyen rules my a mile! :D
  • About the circus: Well it’s actually a trapeze show! In a mall…yes, only in Jakarta you can find a trapeze inside a mall. Lil’ A was super excited watching these Russians swinging and jumping in the air. The show was free for that mall’s visitors so they weren’t long only around 15-20 minutes. It was so hard trying to take their pictures while they are on the air and our spot wasn’t exactly the best to take pictures.

  • Daddy-less Father’s Day: Yes, another one. Last year DH was in Dublin and this year he have to fly to Brussels, Belgium on Father’s Day. Thanks God this would just be a short visit and he will be back this coming Thursday. Lil’ A picked the card himself and I just love how he went through the cards and said “For Daddy…no…this one? Yes!
  • Preschool shopping: Boy, this one is so hard! I never thought there’s a preschool in Jakarta with a price tag of $5,000 a month! Gasps! We’re still shopping for the right school for Lil’ A and it hasn’t been an easy task. But so far we have narrowed down to two schools with affordable price tags and seems like a great place.
  • Award: Sweet Katie from Sluiter Nation gave me an award and I was totally stoked because we had just ‘met’ through twitter and blogs. She’s such an awesome Mama, thanks girl!

As always, there are rules for the given Award, so here’s my answers to the questions:

  • When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
  • A lot! When I was still in the kiddy dancing group of course I wanted to be a dancer. Then I wanted to be a   flight   attendant so I can travel the world for free & get paid! In Junior High after finding my love for writing, I wanted to be a writer and almost took English as my major after high school.

  • What is your most prized material possession?
  • This has to be my camera, an old Rebel XTi that I got 2 years ago and my two lenses. I love my camera and I’m trying to save for more lenses. I drool over lenses and anything camera related more than I drool over purses or shoes! Problem is I’m so forgetful, already I need to replace two lens caps! Sigh!

  • Do you have an iGadgetOfSomeDescription?
  • No, not even an iPod LOL my brothers who are both Apple freaks has been bugging me to make the cross and get a MacBook.

  • What is your poison–hot shower or warm bath?
  • An uninterrupted one would be heaven! For now, a quick hot shower will have to do if the Little Monkey didn’t want to share it with me.

  • What is the best decision you ever made?
  • Tough one! If I have to pick one…it would be to stand my ground and told my first obygyn NO, I will not go to Birmingham and have an emergency c-section when my pregnancy was only 30 weeks & I was first diagnosed with severe preeclampsia. After we switched doctor, I was able to baked him a little longer until he’s 35 weeks -  pretty safe week to be born.

Now let me pass this Award to these fantastic bloggers:

Wish you all  wonderful week ahead!
