Infos on Universal Studio Singapore

Another reason why we went to Singapore was to check out the newly open (well, they’re still on a soft-opening stage really) Universal Studio Singapore. It’s the first one opened in South East Asia.

Location:

Universal Studio Singapore is located within the Resort World Sentosa, on Sentosa Island. Reachable by cab, MRT or by bus. Easiest way would be to take a cab to Vivo City Mall like we did, only cost us around SGD$ 9 by cab from our hotel at the downtown Orchard Rd. From there we took the Sentosa Express (SGD $3/person) and stop right at Universal Studio a mere few minutes ride away.

Opening Hours:

Monday – Sunday: 10:00 am to 7:00 pm
Thursday  – Sunday: 7:00pm to 10:00pm (For the month of June, at Hollywood Boulevard only)

Ticket Price:
For Adult: (Monday – Friday)
1 Day Pass SGD $66.00
2 Day Pass SGD $118.00
Weekend: (Saturday & Sunday)
1 Day Pass SGD 72.00
2 Day Pass SGD 118.000

For Children (4-12 years)
1 Day Pass SGD $48.00
2 Day Pass SGD $88.00
Weekend:
1 Day Pass SGD $52.00
2 Day Pass SGD $88.00

Children under 4 years old is free!

When visiting with small children it would be best to get their Express Pass for SGD $68.00 as this will allow you to bypass the regular waiting lines which at times can be pretty long and take up to 1 hour.

Get your tickets days ahead by buying it online and print it at the comfort of your own home. The day we went there, the tickets were already sold out!

After you arrived at the park you will receive Meal Discounts Coupons of SGD $10 and Merchandise Discounts Coupons of SGD $5. For those who didn’t bring strollers, after entering the park just turn to your right and you’ll see their rental place. For SGD $10.00 you can rent one.

Zones:

Hollywood: Based on Hollywood Boulevard, this will be the first part of the park you’ll see upon entering it. Here you can buy plenty of souvenirs as well.

New York: This is my favorite zone just because I love NYC!

Sci-fi City: Here they have the biggest roller coaster in the whole park called the Battlestar Galactica. Too bad no one wants to ride it so we skipped it altogether.

Ancient Egypt: Their Revenge of The Mummy’s waiting line was too packed and since we didn’t buy the Express Pass we decided not to wait.

The Lost World: Here we waited for about one hour to ride their Canopy Flyer because Lil’ A has been pouting about riding one. It took less than 5 minutes to ride it and our boy had so much fun!

Far Far Away: Shrek 4-D show was the main attractions here. It was fun and Lil’ A had a blast being ‘spit’ by donkey. Also, we finally got the boy his wish come true. He rode a roller coaster for the first time. I was worried – of course – but they said he’s tall enough to ride with an adult company. I screamed and the boy just laugh and said “Weeee….

Madagascar: Here we just rode the King Julien’s Beach Party-Go-Round.

Suggestions:

  • Lather yourself up with sunblocks – the weather can get really really really hot and humid!
  • Bring extra t-shirt – again you will be sweating a lot just from walking around also there are some attractions like one at the Water World that will splash you wet.
  • Bring an umbrella – it doesn’t hurt with that kind of heat.
  • Drinks plenty of water – you will sweat-a-ton, believe me!
  • Have patience – the long waiting line at their restaurants can be a turn off especially during high seasons around June – July.

I love the photo with the sci-fi chick. I’m impressed they’re letting kids under 4 in free. I think at all the US parks (Disney, etc.) they start clipping you at age 3. So that’s a value! Looks like a fun time.

Thanks Gigi, he was afraid of those chicks (there were actually two of them there) hahaha. Yeah he’ll be paying next year so it was a good timing to go there.

Thanks For the article Oyen, we just about to take the boys there and i was looking for such information ;) , we tried to booked a hotel from the Sentosa Island, didn’t get anything so far.all fully booked. Any idea where can we stay near by ? beside the Island? and how long does it take to get to the Island?
kisses for little A…he grows so fast…

    • Maureen says:

Thia, you’re so welcome, thanks for stopping by!
Oh no it’s probably fully booked due to the high seasons. Besides the Island I’m not so sure it all depends on the hotel’s occupancy itself but we stayed at the Marriott when we were there it didn’t take too far. We took a taxi to Vivo City Mall then took the train to the Island. I’ll look up some hotels nearby and email you.
Kisses back from Alex to Tante Thia dan abang-abang ganteng di Bali :D
