Weekly Round Up

Failed to join the fun on Friday Flip-offs so I’d just post a few updates on the life front from my neck of the wood…

Word sentence of the week:One more time, please, Mommy, please…” insert a smile as sweet as a bucket of sugar that will gives you toothache! From telling Lil’ A to stop jumping up and down the bed to telling him to climb down from his Oma’s windows railing! Does bargaining skills even start this early?

On potty training: Yes we are a little ‘behind’ on this department but I’m not one who have a time limit and push Lil’ A to be fully potty trained by a certain age. He’s actually been doing pretty good about going ‘pipis‘ (Indonesian for peeing) in the toilet for months now but he refused to ditch the pull-ups. For almost two weeks now he’s been wearing cute little big boy’s brief during the day. Some accident here and there but that’s to be expected right? One thing that we are still struggling is going No. 2! He would demanded that I put on his pull-up just so he can go ‘poo-poo’ I’m totally at lost as what to do when it comes to this part…will probably consult Mr. Google in a few!

On the job hunting front: Still jobless here! Either I am getting too old for these companies standards or my resume scared the heck out of them, I’d prefer the later actually hahaha. It was one of my aunt that told me about the later part last night when I complaint about how difficult it is to find a job here now. These typical Indonesian standard of ‘good looking appearance and maximum age of 28 – 30 years old’ are pissing me off but since I’m aiming mostly for big or foreign company I had proved myself at every single interviews that I do have the skills. As to why I still haven’t heard from any one of them is beyond me! So the search goes on…

About being a guest poster: For the first time ever, I had a post up over at Mommies Daily last Monday. They’re an Indonesian Mommy website packed with lots of useful resources and information. I wrote – well actually translated – a blog post about flying with babies/kids since June – July is pretty much a vacation times in Indonesia. Go check it out and do look for my next installments. Working with Mommies Daily has been fun!

About that much needed holiday: We’ll be going out of town this upcoming Friday and I’m totally excited and can’t wait to get away from Jakarta for a little while.

I can’t help but laugh as you seemingly peacefully write about the troubles with potty training. I would be cussing and screaming, and you would be able to hear me through your monitor!

    Good luck with #2. :)

Hahaha oh believe me, Melissa it drives me crazy and I did said “Ooooh dang it” under my breath when I had to wipe the floor because somebody forgot to go to the toilet but I tried to keep them minimal which can be so darn hard. Thanks for the #2 wish hahaha

  2. as far as #2….well, there is always bribery if he goes on the potty. Once he does go, he gets his reward and gets to say goodbye and flush #2. make a HUGE deal with clapping and singing when he goes…just some suggestions.

I’ve been thinking about the ‘bribery’ Kerry, saw one at a book store yesterday it’s like a chart with stickers and all the fancy stuff. Seriously thinking of getting it. We’ve successfully got him to sit on the toilet and I clap sing make myself silly actually but he holds it in and ended up with a total melt down for his pull up. Thanks Kerry!

Don’t give into letting him have the pull up. Tell him no and that he’s a big boy now and big boys don’t wear those.
We had to just put my daughter in panties and let her experience real wet and dirty before she realized she did not like it. lol.
When he realizes its gross to poop in his undies he’ll use the potty. At least that is my experience.

That’s the hardest part…the not giving in. He’s a very strong willed boy and I’m impatience lol but you know what thanks for the encouragement I will give it a try and he can wail and cries his head off I’m not going to put pull up when he have to go ‘poo-poo’. Thank you so much!

Ooh that job requirements are annoying. You must be young, slim, and attractive. Did they still ask the applicants to attach their recent photos? Be patient, I hope you’ll land a job that you want, yen.
